It is said the term mathematics began only when man understood and started to write number symbol or numerals to record the counting. it indicates that the theory of mathematics is originated with the development of human civilization.
It was considered as the exact computation but is replaced by approximation methods based on the computer technology. It is no more exact in the sense of traditional mathematics. Today the situation has completely changed.
According to Cambridge dictionary mathematics is the study of number, shape and space using reason and usually a special system of symbol and rules for organizing them.
There is a range of view among mathematicians and philosophers at the exact scope and definition of mathematics. Mathematicians resolve the truth or falsity of conjectures by mathematical proof. When the mathematical structures are good models of real phenomena, then mathematical reasoning can provide insight or prediction about nature. Through the use of abstractions and logic, mathematics developed from counting, calculation, measurement and the systematic study of the shapes and motions of physical objects.
